What services does Blessed Event Birth Services Inc offer?
You can find details about my midwifery services here.
Does Blessed Event Birth Services Inc take insurance?
No. If you are curious, you can read my reasons here.
Are there procedures and tests you require?
I do require an OB panel, this is a lab that checks hemoblogin, and blood type among other things. It also checks for sexually trasmitted infections. This lab helps me know what to expect for how low hemoglobin may go during pregnancy, and if we need to discuss blood type issues that may affect baby. All the other lab tests and procedures such as ultrasound are optional, unlesss I see something that indicates we need more information.
Are you part of a group practice?
No, I have an independent practice.
Do you attend births at the hospital?
Area hospitals do not grant Certified Professional Midwives practicing privileges so I am unable to attend births in a hospital as a midwife. I will accompany clients to the hospital in the event of a transfer, and my role will shift from midwife to doula.
What areas do you serve?
I serve up to 75 miles driving distance from my home. This includes the communities of Manhattan, Junction City, Fort Riley, Chapman, Milford, Clay Center, Riley, Randolph, Council Grove, St Marys, Rossvile, Wamego, Belvue, and many other communities in Kansas.
How many clients do you take a month?
I take up to 3 clients in a month. I limit the number of clients I serve to ensure I can provide the best individualized care I am capable of and to keep midiwfery sustainable for me.
Do you serve VBAC clients?
Yes I do. I have served clients who have had successful home births after a single cesearean section as well as after multiple cesearean sections.
Can I bring my children to appointments?
In the interest of providing the best care I can and being able to focus on your needs during appointments, I ask that children not come to appointments if possible. I do understand that sometimes childcare plans may fall through, or situations may occur where you need to bring children. In those situations, please be aware that my office space is limited and I do not provide toys or books. Snacks or other food may not be brought into the office. You may bring water if you want to bring a drink for your child.
Will you attend a planned breech birth?
Yes, I will attend a planned breech birth. Part of what makes breech birth safer is having an experienced provider as the attendant. I have attended 4 breech births, as well as various breech birth trainings, however I do not feel experienced enough to be the sole attendant at a planned breech birth yet. I would ask another more experienced provider to attend the birth with me and there would be additional expenses beyond my standard midwifery fee.
Can I hire you for the birth only?
No. What makes home birth safe is having a trusting relationship with my client and knowing my client's normals which only comes through the time and interactions my client and I have during prenatals.
