If you are looking for a home birth, you’ve come to the right place. Launched in 2011 as a way to provide safe, alternative birthing options for women in Manhattan, Fort Riley, Junction City and surrounding areas of Kansas, I offer a range of services to help support your needs and desires in pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
I have had the privilege of attending 153 births to date, ranging from VBACs and scheduled/unscheduled C-sections to all natural births both at home and in the hospital. I was a certified birth doula with DONA International (www.dona.org) for 5 years before completing a midwifery apprenticeship. I am now a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), having completed the certification requirements of the North American Registry of Midwives. I am a member of the Kansas Midwives Alliance and I have been appointed a member of the Newborn Screening Advisory Council for Kansas.
I have two sons, and with each, I had a very different birth experience. I had procedures performed during their births without my consent and no explanation was given about what was being done or why it was considered necessary. Unfortunately, I have witnessed this same lack of communication between the provider and many of the families for whom I served as a doula. My hope is that I can help change the way that people think about birth and that no one has to experience the helplessness and confusion that I felt during my births. I believe birth is inherently designed to work. I love what I do and I am excited to be serving families as a Certified Professional Midwife.
